What is powerful about
being Community powered ?
• As a municipally operated utility, MVU is not motivated by profit.
The responsible development and expansion of utility infrastructure
to better serve our community, residents, and businesses drive MVU
business practices. By participating in City Council meetings and Utility
Commission proceedings community members can make their voices
heard regarding the operation of MVU.
• MVU contributes to the economy of our City. Utility projects
employ hundreds of people each year and pave the way for future
development. Our competitive rates and aggressive incentive
programs attract new businesses to the community. As a Public
Power agency MVU invests locally in Moreno Valley as a benefit
to the people who live and work here.
• Retaining local control over electrical service comes with the
additional benefit of higher reliability. In 2017, MVU customers
experienced an average outage time that was less than one-third
of what customers of the top performing utilities across the
country experienced.
• During the first full week of October each year, over 2,000
public power agencies across the nation promote the benefits
of community-owned, locally-controlled utility services. MVU
received a Proclamation from the Moreno Valley City Council
recognizing Public Power Week and distributed hundreds of
promotional items to residents and customers to raise awareness
of MVU as a Public Power utility.
customer care standards
o RESPECTING OUR CUSTOMERS’ CONCERNS
To some, government can seem like a complex bureaucracy. We
put a human face on the customer’s dealings with our City. We
work to put our customers at ease and to earn their trust.
o REMEMBERING WHO WE WORK FOR
It may not always be possible to say “yes” but our customers
and co-workers must know that we have done our best to help
them accomplish their goal.
