AMI
All residential customers now have Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI)
Smart Meters installed. These digital meters provide two-way communication
between MVU and the customer. The Smart Meter allows for automatic and
remote functions that previously required a field technician to physically handle
the meter. Both the utility and the customer will benefit from more frequent
meter reads, enhanced tampering detection, optimized identification and

MVU is currently installing AMI Smart meters for Commercial and Industrial
accounts to bring all customer classes the benefits of AMI.
TOU
Time-of-use (TOU) rates are coming to Moreno Valley. These new rate plans
have predetermined prices corresponding to time periods throughout the
day and night that will not fluctuate due to the day-to-day changes of the
wholesale electricity market. Higher rates are charged during peak demand
hours and lower rates during off-peak low-demand hours. TOU rates allow
customers to lower their energy bill by shifting their bulk energy usage to off-
peak hours to realize lower rates.
