Patrol Operations

Deputies assigned to patrol operations respond to calls for service assigned by dispatch. These calls typically reach 300-350 per day. Patrol deputies also conduct pro-active patrols, serve arrest warrants, provide a visible presence, and engage with the community. The duties of a non-sworn officer (Community Service Officer) include responding to non-emergency calls for service, prisoner transportation, traffic control, booking and photo imaging.

Moreno Valley Mall

The owners/operators of the Moreno Valley Mall contract with the City of Moreno Valley for law enforcement services at the mall. The contract provides for one full-time sworn deputy who is assigned strictly to respond to and investigate all crimes occurring on mall property.

School Resource Unit

The School Resource Unit responds to all calls for service at assigned high schools and middle schools. The School Resource Deputies (SRD) are also responsible for crime prevention and education on campus. The Moreno Valley Unified School District contracts with the Riverside County Sheriff's Office for SRD’s. The SRD unit covers six high schools and six middle schools.
