Art Loan Program

The City of Moreno Valley invites artists to exhibit their work in select City facilities. This rotating program enhances public spaces for the benefit of residents and supports the City’s interest in displaying works of art to enhance the aesthetics of these areas. It also offers local and regional artists an opportunity to gain exposure.

Eligibility

  • An artist is an individual with skill, training, or experience in an artistic discipline who is active and committed to their practice.
  • Artwork will be considered by artists who reside, work, or were born in Moreno Valley, including family members of deceased artists with those ties. Artists from Riverside County may also apply, but priority is given to those connected to Moreno Valley.
  • Only original works of art will be accepted.
  • Submissions from commercial entities are not accepted.

Selection Criteria

  • Works must meet display requirements and will not be exhibited if they are:
    • Very large or difficult to display due to size or weight.
    • Made with materials that are inherently dangerous or unstable.
    • Made of materials that may decay if not kept under optimal environmental conditions.
  • The Arts Commission reviews all eligible works and recommends pieces based on
    • Quality: The inherent artistic quality of the work.
    • Media: Only media that can fit the exhibit space without intruding into walkways will be considered.
    • Style: All artistic styles are welcome except those that fail the display requirements.
    • Nature: Works should be appropriate in scale, material, form, and content for the display environment.
    • Diversity: The program strives for diversity in style, scale, media, and artists, including ethnicity and gender.
  • All selected artwork is on formal loan to the City and displayed at the City’s discretion.
